A few questions about our philosophy, approach, and what makes Butterfly’s Rest Floral Design Studio unique.

  • Butterfly’s Rest is an independent Seattle floral design studio creating seasonal, designer’s-choice flowers for everyday moments, weddings, events, and floral experiences. Our work is flower-forward, artfully composed, and guided by the natural movement and character of each stem rather than fixed recipes or replicated designs.

  • A traditional flower shop often offers a broad selection of ready-made arrangements and designs that can be recreated from a catalog. As a floral design studio, Butterfly’s Rest takes a more curated, designer-led approach. Our arrangements are composed in our signature style using flowers selected at their seasonal best rather than reproduced from fixed recipes.

    You can still visit the studio to purchase available ready-made bouquets and arrangements, order online for pickup or local delivery, or work with us on floral design for weddings, events, workplaces, and private experiences.

  • Yes. A limited selection of ready-made bouquets and arrangements is available in the studio during posted retail hours. Availability changes daily, so preordering online is recommended when you need a particular size, format, or pickup date.

  • Our work is refined, flower-forward, and expressive, with natural movement, considered negative space, and a soft editorial sensibility. Rather than relying heavily on greenery or filler, we use flowers themselves to create texture, structure, and depth.

  • We consider environmental impact throughout sourcing, mechanics, processing, and material use. We work without traditional floral foam, favor reusable or lower-waste mechanics, source locally and seasonally whenever possible, and repurpose or compost leftover flowers when appropriate.

  • Working with the season allows us to select flowers for freshness, quality, character, and availability. Seasonal design also gives each arrangement a distinct sense of time and place. Every stem is carefully processed to support beauty and longevity.

Everyday Flowers

Everything you need to know about our seasonal arrangements, designer’s choice approach, and what to expect when ordering flowers.

  • Designer’s choice means we select the flowers and determine the final composition using what is most beautiful and appropriate that week. You choose the arrangement format and scale and may share color or mood preferences. We use professional judgment to create a cohesive piece in the Butterfly’s Rest style.

  • You are welcome to share color, mood, and flower preferences during checkout. We thoughtfully consider them, but specific varieties cannot be guaranteed because availability changes with season and market conditions. If a request cannot be met exactly, we preserve the intended feeling through considered substitutions.

  • No two arrangements are identical. Product photographs represent our overall style, scale, format, and level of composition rather than an exact floral recipe. Your flowers will reflect the season and the materials available at their best.

  • A wrapped bouquet is arranged for gifting and transport and is intended to be placed in the recipient’s own vase. It is prepared with a temporary water source. A vase arrangement arrives fully composed in a selected vessel and is ready to enjoy immediately.

    • Petite: a small, delicate gesture

    • Classic: compact, timeless, and easy to gift

    • Signature: more layered and expressive, with greater scale and movement

    • Elevated: the largest and most sculptural option, designed to make a strong impression

    Classic and Signature are the most versatile choices for birthdays, anniversaries, gratitude, and everyday gifting. Choose Elevated when you want a more commanding floral presence.

  • Yes. Enter your message during checkout, and we will handwrite it on a complimentary enclosure card. Premium greeting cards may also be available for purchase.

  • Arrangements are made to order using flowers selected for freshness, quality, character, and seasonal availability. Each stem is carefully processed before design to support its natural beauty and longevity.

  • Many arrangements can be enjoyed for approximately four to seven days, although longevity varies by flower variety, temperature, environment, and care. Keep the flowers away from direct sunlight, heaters, drafts, and ripening fruit; refresh the water regularly; and remove faded material as needed.   • Contact us within 24 hours of pickup or delivery with your order number and photographs of the flowers, packaging, or damage where relevant. Because flowers are perishable, prompt notice allows us to understand what happened and determine the appropriate resolution.

Pickup & Local Delivery

  • Item description

  • We deliver within eligible ZIP codes in Seattle, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Renton, Tukwila, SeaTac, and surrounding communities. Enter the delivery ZIP code at checkout or visit our Pickup & Delivery page for the current service area.

  • Yes. Please include the recipient’s full name, business or building name, room or unit number, access instructions, and a working phone number. Building policies may affect where and how the flowers can be delivered.

  • Same-day delivery may be available for online orders placed by 10 AM Pacific Time, depending on flower inventory, production capacity, destination, and the selected arrangement. If same-day service is unavailable, checkout will show the next available date.

  • For everyday flowers, ordering one to three days ahead is recommended. For Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and other limited seasonal collections, preorder at least one week ahead when possible because availability may sell out.

  • When conditions allow, flowers may be left in a safe, shaded location protected from heat, cold, rain, and direct sunlight. If safe delivery is not possible, we may contact the purchaser or recipient to coordinate next steps. Additional delivery attempts may incur a fee.

  • Contact us as soon as possible. Changes or cancellations may be possible before flowers have been sourced or the design process has begun. Once preparation is underway, changes are limited because materials and production time have already been committed.

Flower Subscriptions

Information about our seasonal flower subscriptions, how they work, and how you can manage your deliveries.

  • We offer a biweekly flower subscription for regular seasonal bouquets and an annual occasion delivery for recurring dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. Current sizes, prices, delivery dates, and benefits are listed on the Flower Subscriptions page.

  • Subscriptions follow a curated seasonal direction. You may note general color or mood preferences, but specific flower varieties and exact palettes cannot be guaranteed.

  • Delivery is not included in the bouquet price. A flat $10 delivery fee applies to each scheduled subscription delivery within our eligible service area.

    Active subscribers also receive one complimentary delivery on a separate, non-subscription flower purchase during each subscription period.

  • Yes. Before the next billing cycle, you can pause or cancel your subscription, change the bouquet scale, or update the delivery address through your account. The new address must be within our eligible service area. Changes submitted after billing or floral preparation has begun may apply to the following delivery.

  • Follow the delivery instructions provided with your subscription. When requested, leave your clean subscription vase outside with fresh water in a safe, shaded location so the bouquet can be placed directly into it.

Weddings

  • We offer three levels of wedding service:

    • Full-Service Floral Design, beginning at $5,000

    • Simplified-Service Wedding Florals, beginning at $2,500

    • Elopement and Courthouse Wedding Florals, with packages beginning at $320

  • Inquire after your venue is secured, especially for peak-season dates. Full-Service weddings are often booked several months ahead. Shorter timelines may be possible depending on availability, scope, and flower sourcing.

  • We review your date, venue, estimated guest count, floral priorities, and anticipated scope. If the project appears aligned and the date is available, we invite you to a consultation. A tailored floral proposal follows the design conversation.

  • That is completely normal. You can bring colors, visual references, priorities, or simply describe the feeling you want. We guide the process and translate those ideas into a cohesive direction suited to your venue, season, and celebration.

  • The process is collaborative but guided. We ask for the information needed to understand your priorities, then manage the floral decisions and production details within the approved direction. You do not need to choose every flower or oversee every placement.

  • Preferences are welcomed, but individual varieties cannot be guaranteed. Season, weather, quality, and market availability can change. When substitutions are necessary, we preserve the intended palette, mood, movement, and level of composition.

  • We consider the venue architecture, lighting, guest count, table dimensions, ceremony setting, movement between spaces, and the relative importance of each floral moment. These factors guide scale, placement, repetition, and where flowers will create the greatest visual and emotional impact.

  • Sometimes. Repurposing depends on the design, mechanics, timing, distance between spaces, venue access, and whether moving the flowers can be completed safely without affecting their appearance. We identify realistic opportunities during planning rather than promising that every arrangement can serve multiple purposes.

  • Yes. Our Wedding Floral Investment Estimator provides a preliminary planning range based on guest count, floral coverage, installations, and production needs. It is an educational tool rather than a final quote. Your proposal will reflect the confirmed design and logistics.

  • Full-Service weddings include delivery, professional installation, styling, and breakdown. Simplified-Service may include client pickup, scheduled delivery, or limited placement. Your proposal will state exactly what is included.

  • Yes. Butterfly’s Rest is based in Seattle and serves weddings throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond when the project scope and production needs are a good fit.

  • We consider season, temperature, exposure, wind, access, installation timing, and flower durability during planning. Outdoor floral work is adapted to the conditions as much as reasonably possible, although living materials remain affected by extreme weather.

  • Your date is reserved after the floral agreement is signed and the required retainer is received. An inquiry, consultation, or proposal alone does not hold the date.

  • Yes. For Full-Service weddings, we coordinate relevant floral logistics with your planner, venue, and creative partners, including access, installation timing, room transitions, and breakdown requirements.

Events & Bloom Bars

  • We design florals for private dinners, showers, milestone celebrations, brand activations, corporate gatherings, launches, community events, and other occasions throughout Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

  • Full-Service Event Floral Design begins at $2,500. Seasonal table centerpieces begin at the current price listed on the Event Floral Design page. Final investment depends on quantities, scale, flower selection, rentals, delivery, installation, and venue logistics.

  • Yes. We create ceremony structures, hanging work, floral environments, statement pieces, and other site-specific installations when the venue, timeline, budget, and production requirements support them.

  • A Bloom Bar is an interactive flower experience where guests choose from curated seasonal stems and create a hand-tied bouquet to take home. Butterfly’s Rest provides prepared flowers, wrapping materials, signage, and a styled display, with self-guided and designer-guided service options.

  • Bloom Bars require a minimum of 20 bouquets and begin at $800. Final pricing depends on guest count, bouquet scale, service level, travel, styling, and any branded or premium enhancements.

  • Bloom Bars are customized to the gathering. For open-format events, planning for approximately 60–75% guest participation may be appropriate. We will help determine a quantity based on attendance, event length, and how the Bloom Bar fits into the schedule.

  • For a self-guided Bloom Bar, we prepare and style the station so guests can participate at their own pace. A designer-guided Bloom Bar includes an on-site Butterfly’s Rest floral designer who assists guests, maintains the display, helps finish bouquets, and manages the experience during the contracted service period.

  • No. The experience is designed to be approachable and enjoyable for beginners. Designer guidance can be added when you want more active instruction and support.

Workshops & Floral Experiences

Information about our floral experiences and workshops — from private, design-forward settings to hands-on gatherings centered around seasonal flowers.

  • Open Studio is a reservation-based floral experience where individuals or small groups work with seasonal flowers in the Butterfly’s Rest studio. Guests choose an offering, receive materials and guidance, and create at a relaxed pace.

  • Yes. Private floral workshops are available for birthdays, showers, team gatherings, client events, creative celebrations, and community groups. Format, flower selection, location, and level of instruction are tailored to the group.

  • No. Workshops are accessible to beginners. We introduce the materials and foundational techniques while leaving room for individual expression.

  • Each workshop includes the flowers, mechanics, tools, and instruction required for the selected design. Exact inclusions, vessel details, duration, and take-home materials are listed with each offering.

  • Yes. Small groups may reserve available Open Studio sessions together. Larger groups should inquire about a private workshop, workplace experience, or Bloom Bar so we can recommend an appropriate format.

  • Yes. During posted retail hours, you may visit to shop the available selection of ready-made bouquets and arrangements. Preordering is recommended when you need a particular size or pickup date.

  • A private floral experience is a reserved studio setting designed around a specific moment. The space is styled with florals and guided design direction, allowing you to arrive and experience a fully composed environment without needing to coordinate details.
